School's Out - Alice Cooper

Alice Cooper's classic hard rock/heavy metal, fun, end-of-school anthem.
This song was his answer to the question, "What's the greatest three minutes of your life?". His reply? "The last three minutes of the last day of school when you're sitting there and it's like a slow fuse burning...If we can catch that three minutes in a song, it's going to be so big."
The song has been used so many times in movies, tv shows and commercials, with numerous different versions, that we can safely say that those three minutes were successfully captured!

Farewell To You by White Lion

This was the final song on the last album Mane Attraction before White Lion disbanded in 1991.
The song is a glam metal ballad, saying a fond farewell to the experiences on the road:
"Well it's time to say goodbye my friend,
I'm glad you stayed until the end,
I hope that you've enjoyed the time we spent,
Though I know that I will be back again,
I don't know just how soon my friend,
Until we meet again just think of me,
I'll think of you".

Farewell by Avantasia

This is a gothic heavy metal opera duet between Gabriel and step-sister Anna.
A passionate song about despair and heartbreak. But, as Lugaid says at the end "No farewell could be the last one. If you long to meet again..."
While described as an opera due to the underlying plot of the album, with each role being sung, songs like this off the Metal Opera Album are also described as 'symphonic power metal'.
